Reader...I've got beef with the day after Turkey Day. It might come from my days of working in retail and watching even some of my favorite luxury brands succumb to the hype. I swear I still hear "Stack 'em High and Watch 'em Fly" in my nightmares this time of year, ANYTIME I see a sweater table at the mall. This Saturday, I was driving back from getting my Flu and TDap vaccines so I can spend the holidays with a family member who has cancer, and I needed to drive through the mall parking lot. Now personally... I am not up for playing the adult version of Mario Kart during this season... but I couldn't hold it any longer, ladies, and the mall was RIGHT THERE. Sometimes we just have to make the call. Now, I wasn't going to go into the actual mall—there was a World Market that is very rarely shopped next door. But I had to first dodge banana peels, turtle shells, and that one person who HAS to wait for the parking spot and hold up 18 cars from their destination. My son in the back asks... "Mom, can we go in the mall?" My left eye started twitching. My partner felt the levels of rage soaring as I determined who I am taking out next...Bowser or Princess Peach with arms full of Macy's bags. "Is there something in particular you wanted to look at?????" I responded with absolutely no desire to give in. No matter how full my bladder. "No, I just want to go into Dick's." "Ok bud, not today... how about Tuesday in the middle of the day when NO ONE is here... see this parking lot? NO. ONE. ever parks this far unless it's a mad house." I am sharing this story because I will probably avoid your inbox on Friday... just like I will be avoiding mine. I will wish you a happy Turkey Day, might check on your soul on Sunday or Monday... Reader It is wild when you experience your business running the way you intended it to.
